This knife arises from a paradox : Thiers, the French capital of cutlery, draw its expetise from seven centuries of cutlery craftmanship. The city, and the mountain villages surrounding, had always made knives for other localities and for exportation. There were made knives of Normandy, knives of Aurillac, "Laguiole" knives, "Langres" knives or the "issoire" knives, among others. All these names reflecting their area of origin. Curiously, cutlers from Thiers did not claim any identity from a local knife. Realizing that, they decided to invent a knife they called the "THIERS®".
